NEW LAWS REGARDING PAVING OVER FRONT GARDENS New rules were introduced towards the end of last year regarding the paving over of existing front gardens or the reinstating of paving in what was previously a front garden area. Planning permission will be required if the customer wishes to pave for hardstanding an area of over 5 square metres - if the run off of water flows into the road or surface water drainage. Planning permission will cost £150 and could take up to 8 weeks for a decision. The submission of scale drawings detailing the proposed works is also required. The reasoning behind this is to help ease the burden on the sewerage systems at times of very heavy rain. There are ways to avoid the needs to apply for planning permission so feel free to discuss your requirements with us. YOU WON'T FIND US ON PAY-TO-REGISTER LISTS We do not subscribe to any paid register schemes such as the £400-a-year Marshalls register as we believe our work speaks for itself. Registers such as these are only of any value if they truly represent the best workmanship available, whereas in reality they amount to little more than a list of those willing to pay up & charge their customers more.
