What Should I Do

I take photographs every day and always have my camera with me. Where ever you look there is light and texture waiting to be caught as a digital image. Getting the camera out every day is for me the best way to stay connected with the reality of photography. Like any other discipline, you have to practice and you have to get out there and make the effort. Even if it’s raining.
What do I take photographs of? The land and the sea, the people and life in the North West of England and Scotland. I like intimate shots of landscape, places that aren’t instantly recognizable. I particularly enjoy abstract photography and abstraction in landscape is my core interest.
What do I want to achieve in 2016? The ability to get up early enough to catch the morning light in my photographs.
What have I been doing for the last few decades? I have spent most of my working life as a freelance textile and wallpaper designer, with a ten year interlude running an ec0-friendly building company.  Finally I laid down my paint brush and picked up my camera instead.
Why is my website called whatshouldido.co.uk ? I noticed that ‘what should I do about…. ’ is a frequent search made on the internet, so I bought the domain name. Then, when I decided to build the Lynn Fotheringham Photography website,  I sat down and thought “what should I do?”.
I have had images included in The Royal Photographic Society’s The Photographic Angle 2015 exhibition and am a finalist in Visit Britain’s British Landscape Photographer of the Year 2015.
